Flowers, Color & Thrilling Entertainment!

Sunday, March 4 & Monday, March 5

Aside from thousands of beautiful flowers, the 2007 Flower Show proudly presents exciting live entertainment from Ireland’s own Ragús. These talented dancers, singers, and musicians—inspired by the culture of islanders in Galway Bay, Ireland—can bring out the Irish in anyone.

Ragús and other Irish acts can be seen on the hour between 11 am and 7 pm on the Castle Stage in Hall A. “These young performers have astounding amounts of energy. Our Show visitors can’t get enough of it,” says Jane Pepper, president of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.

“When I first heard about the ‘Legends of Ireland’ theme, I instantly thought of rainbows,” said Jamie Rothstein of Jamie Rothstein Floral Design. “But I wanted to give it a modern twist.” As a result, her knockout landscape mixes Celtic symbols and a rainbow of color featuring over 8,000 tulips.

Come to the PNC Pavilion, located in the center of the Show floor, where you can enter the “PNC Peoples’ Choice Sweepstakes.” and vote for your favorite Flower Show exhibit. This is also PNC Bank’s 16th year as the Flower Show’s Presenting Sponsor.

Completed ballots are entered into a drawing to win fantastic prizes, including free airline tickets and hotel accommodations.

Spending a day at the Flower Show has become an annual rite of spring for five sisters who live across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Decked out in matching emerald-colored fleeces, this fun-loving quintet can’t get enough of the world-class horticulture on display.

Says sister Jo, “We come back each year and it keeps getting better all the time. We never miss it!”

Every color of the spectrum can be found at the Flower Show, so the folks at the American Rhododendron Society decided to embrace white flowers this year. Exhibiter Glen Fredrick says, “Since all our of white rhododendrons and azaleas are the same color, the public is noticing small subtleties like leaf structure and interesting textures.”

Ted Stecki added, “Everything here can be found at your local garden center, so visitors can easily incorporate these beautiful species into their own home landscapes.”
